Sarah(שָׂרָה)
The name given by her parents was Sarai(שָׂרָי) as a nickname rooted in the word
Sar(שָׂר) meaning Princess. The 'Ai' denotes "My"; therefore, altering her name to mean 'My Princess'. Her actual name is Iscah and her sister was milchah. She was an extremely beautiful woman. Wherever she went, those in power were enamored of her beauty and piety. Keep in mind that besides physical beauty, she also had a charisma of grace that showed as a pious and a modest woman thereby making her an attractive woman.
The Bible narrates 2 incidents describing how beautiful she was.
*During the famine Avram & his family went down to Egypt, the Pharaoh being enamored with how beautiful she was nearly commited a sin Gen 12:14-16 ( בְּרֵאשִׁית יה :יד-יו). During this time she was 65
*The second instant was in Gen 20:2-8 (בְּרֵאשִׁית כ:ב-ח) when King Abimelech of Gerar brought Sarai to his palace. During this time she was 90. She had God's gift of piety and grace in her.
Genesis 17:15 God inserted his name letter 'Hey'(ה) in her name in the place of Yod(י) to be called Princess of nation
Sarah was obedient and subjected to her husband, and in her own right she was also considered a prophetess. She ran the tent of Avraham as her own and even cooked a meal for the Angels who visited the tent regularly. Shimon Kefa (Peter) too praised her in 1 Peter 3:6. (א פֵטרוֹס ג:ו)
