Yosef(יוֹסֵף)

The meaning of the name Yosef is "Ingathering." Its root comes from the root word Yasaf ( יָסַף) meaning 'gather'. Despite being a young man forcefully disconnected from his family and culture, he still remained true to his jewish essence. His ability to interpret dreams came from a place of Godly wisdom and from the understanding of his environment. Each situation he faced was applied in the interpretation of those dreams. It was due to this that the Pharaoh elevated him to the position of second in command. All his life he was responsible for grains and souls that came to him for food and nourishment. Pharaoh's dream of the 7 cows, gaunt and sicky, swallowing up the healthy cows was a reflection of his life (Rachel & Leah), and when he realized that his reign as a king was intertwined with the life of Yosef, he elevated him to great heights and made him a Son.During the famine, he brought great wealth to Pharaoh's house (Genesis 47:14) and also reconciled with his brothers. He gathered everyone from Canan, brought them to Egypt, and gave them a place to settle down. When the Israelites came out of Egypt, they took Joseph's bones and buried him in Shechem in Israel.

Yosef's entire life is about Ingathering. In fact, there is another Biblical feast connected to Ingathering called Chag Ha Asif (Tabernacles) when the great ingathering will take place. Yosef is rightfully called the Suffering Messiah because the children of Israel merited it instead of King, Messiah David.

Yeshua's father was  Yosef, but we don't know much about him as it is not mentioned in the Bible. He is likely to have been a gatherer as his name suggests.
