 Mattityahu (Matthew מַתִּתְיָהוּ‎)

The Bible is filled with etymology of names and places that have meaning and spiritual substance. In the case of Matthew
Mattit comes from the root word Matan(מַתָּן) meaning 'Gift', 'Yah (יָה)' meaning God
Suffix (וּ) 'OO' means His. Hence, the name means  'Gift of God'.

Matthew 9:9(מַתִתְיָהוִ ט:ט) We see the moment Yeshua called him out, without hesitation, he followed him and became His Talmidim (ִתַלמִידִים  Disciple).

He is a gift from God to teach us Teshuva (Repentance תְשׁוּבָה) because he gives us the most extensive story about the Mikveh (Baptism מִקְוֶה) of repentance amongst the 4 Gospels (Besorah בְּשׂוֹרָה) preceding the account of the entry of the HaShe HaElohim
(השֵה האֵלֹהים lamb of God)

God's gifts and providence are always around us each day, because Yeshua is carefully watching each one of us and probably has a special name for each of us that we don't know about.
